“Rolling in Webcomics” by Fishball

Description:
A personal from “zero to hero” sharing session by Fishball about her journey in creating her very popular and amusing webcomics- ‘My Giant Nerd Boyfriend’ Webtoons which is produced in both English and Chinese, and has millions of subscribers worldwide.

Imagine how it’s like when two storytellers from different backgrounds come together to fulfill a single, complete vision. We invite creator duos from local collective COSH (Comics of Singapore Heritage) Studios to speak about their experience working with a partner – the ups, the downs, and everything in between.

Description:
Geek out with illustrators Lee Xinli and André Wee as they bring you through some of their recent illustrations drawn with groundbreaking and exciting tools such as the Apple Pencil on the iPad Pro and the Wacom Mobilestudio Pro. You will learn about their creative processes and journeys of adopting and adapting these digital tools to their workflows both in a personal and professional setting. You will also enjoy some insight to their practice as they highlight and share case studies and demonstrate how they do what they do. Come and be inspired!

“Drawn & Designed Exhibition”

By The Design Society x OIC for Illustration Arts Festival 2018
Venue: National Design Center / Date: Sept 20 – Sept 30

Graphic Design and Illustration have always been co-existing somewhat independently in the creative field but the two disciplines are merging together now more than ever. This exhibition showcases the blurring the boundaries between the two disciplines with a curated collection of fine Singapore-produced works by local creatives and design studios.

 

Special Screening by Cartoon Underground

Venue: LASALLE College of the Arts ( McNally Campus ) / 23rd Sept 12PM & 3PM.
Bringing you the best independent animated films from Cartoons Underground’s 6th edition from 2017! Catch award-winning animated films by directors from Ottawa Animation Festival, Zagreb Animation Festival and Edinburgh international film festivals.

Join us for heart palpitating scenes and plots that will drive you to the edge of reality while hanging out with the creators themselves! Including winners of Cartoons Underground’s Golden Durian Award winners –  Poles Apart, a winner of BAFTA for best British Animation, Annie award for Best Student Film, Child and Merlot.

 

V A N I T A S
A group exhibition proudly curated and organized by Sarah Thursday.

This all-female group consists of 6 Singapore-raised independent artists who will be creating illustrations and merchandise based on ther unique personal styles for the theme “Vanitas” ( A vanitas is a symbolic work of art showing the transience of life, the futility of pleasure, and the certainty of death, often contrasting symbols of wealth and symbols of ephemerality and death. )

The girl gang includes Erikartoon, Peithedragon, Yelselogy, Moth Head, sanatoriium and Sarah Thursday.

21 Sept Friday : 5PM til late. (Artists’ talk at 7PM, all are welcomed!)
22-23 Sept, Saturday and Sunday : 12PM – 8PM

TDS Session 16: Moving World

In conjunction with the release of our TDS Paper #2, Moving World and in collaboration with Organisation of Illustrators Council’s Illustration Arts Fest 2018, we are proud to have Jackie (The Fingersmith Letterpress), Ning Chen (Sesameseedcat) and William Chan (TMRRW) as speakers for our upcoming session.

Together, they will share about their creative practice in this fast moving world, the challenges they have overcome in their earnest pursuits. The speakers will also share their works, insights and their inspiring adventures navigating a non-traditional career path against the odds.
